Capul Island, Philippines

Capul is a fifth class island municipality in the province of Northern SamarPhilippinesPrior to its founding as a town, Capul Island itself with its lighthouse built on the island, served as a guidepost for the Acapulco-Manila galleon trade vessels passing through the treacherous waters of San Bernardino Strait. It also served as the capital of Samar from 1848 to 1852.

Capul Island is a tourist destination as you can visit a lot of places here. They boast of a white beach, a lighthouse, an islet and caves.

I had vacation with my friends here.  It was a very relaxing trip I've ever had. No pollution and traffic . We stayed in the relatives of my bestfriend in 3 days.   Rental place here is very affordable but we so lucky because we got a free food and accommodation.

During my vacation here,  there's a lot of tourist spot that I found.  Like this picture it was taken outside the church of Capul.

Capul Church

The church of Capul, built during the Spanish Colonial Period, is dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola and is surrounded by a square fort with bulwarks of dissimilar designs. The church structure was actually the third that was built on the site. The first two structures, made of hard wood and nipa roofs, were razed when Moro pirates plundered the island in 1615 and 1768. In 1781, Fr. Mariano Valero, a Spanish architect-priest led the restoration of the church and built the stonewall fortress similar to that in IntramurosManila that would fortify it against Moro attacks.

Capul Island Lighthouse

Capul Island Lighthouse is a lighthouse on Titoog Point in San Luis on the northern tip of Capul Island, Northern Samar in thePhilippines. It marks the western entrance to the San Bernardino Strait coming in from Ticao Pass.
Construction on the lighthouse was started on October 1893 and it was first lit on December 1896 while the station was still partially complete. Work was suspended a month before on November 1896 on the onset of the Philippine Revolution.
The Capul Island Lighthouse together with the Batag Island Lighthouse were declared provincial historical landmarks by the province of Northern Samar in October 2008

Timon-timon is a rudder-shaped rock formation located near the southern point of the island.

Here's the other beautiful spots taken during my vacation in Capul Island:

How to get to Capul Island:

By Airplane

The nearest airports going to Capul are located in Catarman and Calbayog both in Northern Samar, Philippines.  By Air
From Catarman or Calbayog, ride a trike to take you to the

ports in Allen that connect Capul to mainland Samar – Looc and
Dapdap. From Looc, a boat departs daily at 12 noon, fare is P50.00.
From Dapdap, a boat leaves in the afternoon every Monday,
Wednesday, Friday and weekend, fare is also P50.00.
Alternatively, if you miss the boat from Looc or Dapdap, you can
go to Barangay Victoria, also in Allen, and ride a public boat to San
Antonio Island, then ride a motorbike or
habal-habal to Sitio Dalupirit  and charter
a boat going to Capul Island.

By Land
From Allen port, look for the big out-rigger boat that goes to Capul Island. There is only one trip per day, which leaves at 12:00nn. Fare: Php 60. Travel time is about an hour.
Going back, you have to be at the port by 6:30am the next day, the boat leaves between 6:45-7:00am for Allen..
